My son is an alien, I'm thinkin' it could be true!

I really think that Carson could be an alien. I mean what kid in this world has a double ear infection and has absolutely no symptoms?! No fever, he doesn't get lethargic, NOTHING! He was literally running around all day long, helping in the garden, playing in his sandbox, riding his bike. And then POW! He is screaming that his ear hurts. At 8:00 at night. So we went to instacare and waited forever (not a complaint, better than the ER!) and found out he has a double ear infection, an extremely red throat and an upper respiratory infection. As a mother, I looked like a neglectful, deadbeat, loser who doesn't pay attention to her sick little boy. But if they are running around like a wild banshee, would you think they were sick? Me neither.

Then I went to get his prescription filled and it was over an hour long wait. However, all the same people who were at instacare were there, so we all chatted while we waited. It was really funny. All the moms there, comparing symptoms, expressing sympathy, entertaining each others kids. It was awesome because instead of being annoyed at the people in front of you, you're actually happy for them when their name is called. "Oh yay for you! You can finally take your little one home and get some rest. Poor little thing. I hope she sleeps well tonight!" and so on and so forth. And the best part of it all, the prescription was 75% less than the last time I had it filled! YAY!

We got home, got Carson all medicated and then put him to bed. Then, of course, I can't sleep because I'm all wound up. I stayed up until 2 a.m. waiting for the inevitable crying and misery that comes with the ear infection. It never came. He slept all night. It was awesome. Well, I probably should have just went to bed but yeah, that didn't happen. I did, however, do a rough draft on a birthday invite for my grandma and complete a whole 8X8 album (free through CK and Shutterfly, I missed the last freebie and I wasn't going to miss this one!) because of my insomnia. So at least something good came of my night!

Now I'm going to finish reading a book because Carson is doing this:

I hope you have a fabulous Saturday!

Pretty cool! Be sure to watch this.

I had this e-mailed to me recently and I thought I would share it. This was a very cool song when it first came out. I even studied it in 9th grade history class. It brings a smile to my face. ENJOY!!

Whether you are a Billy Joel fan or not, you probably remember his great song 'We Didn't Start the Fire.' Here it is, set to pictures--- Had to share this one. It's a fabulous flashback through the past half century. Turn up volume, sit back and enjoy a review of 50 years of history in less than 3 minutes! Thanks to Billy Joel and some guy from the University of Chicago with too much time to Google! I wonder how many of the images those under 40 will recognize from the early part of the song?? You might have to watch this more than once.

Sad day for Caleb : (

Today, Caleb's beloved bearded dragon Spike, went to the big desert in the sky. Caleb was so upset, he cried on and off all evening. It nearly broke my heart. I even shed some tears for Spike too. (Well, I really shed some tears because of Caleb's heartache.) Caleb is devastated.

Spike was a great pet, easy to love and even though he was pretty high maintenance for a lizard, we really liked having him around. Not that I would touch him or anything but I still really loved him. Secretly, I think he loved me the most (aside from Caleb, of course) because I was around all day and he knew my voice because I'm on the phone most of the time. Plus, I fed him a lot and he liked to eat his crickets.

We had a little burial for Spike too. We asked Caleb if he wanted to say anything and he said "he was a good lizard" through tears. Then we put his shoebox coffin in the very deep hole that we dug in the garden.

I will not miss the noisy crickets.

But Spike, we will miss you!

Spike on his rock in the backyard. He was so lazy that we could leave him there and he would never move. In my next life, I want to be a domesticated lizard.

Baby Spike. He almost blends in with Caleb's shirt. He was so little and cute!

Can you just feel the love that he has for Spike? Spike was a bribe for behaving for my mom when Allan and I went on vacation to Mexico.

MIA for a while. But here is an update of the fam and all things related.

Let's see, where to start?

Well, last year for Valentines day we bought a motor home. We used it a few times and found that it was just too small for us. So in September we sold it to a very sweet retired couple and it was absolutely perfect for them. Any who, guess what we got?

Personally, I think we should find a better way to spend our time in February then driving all over the country. Maybe next year. But hey, this trailer is here to stay, its awesome. Its a 32 foot Weekend Warrior toy hauler. We got a smokin' deal, we paid about half of what its worth. Even better, Allan and I got to drive to California and back all by ourselves and actually have a real conversation and everything. It was pretty fabulous.

And Valentines was particularly great because we celebrated it early and then I left town to have a quick scrapbook getaway with my friends Nat and Heidi. My niece Stacha came with me too. I dropped off my broken laptop to Nat's hubby Jesse, who is going to fix it and make it all better. I actually used some of my abundant scrapbook collection too, which is an added bonus. Too bad the weather sucked and we had to come home on Sunday instead of Monday.

And speaking of Valentines, here are our projects this year.

The 40 Valentines that I made this year. It was much easier after the kids were in bed and I finished them by myself. My boys just don't get the concept of crafts. They really are just like Allan. I guess my craftiness will never get passed on to anyone in my family!

The close up of my craftiness. Not as cute as I wanted them to be but they are just going to get thrown away, right?

The brownies Carson just had to have for preschool. I made them cuter with a cookie cutter. I really wanted to do cookies but I got vetoed. After all, they are for Carson, not me. I ate the cut out parts. YUM!

YAY! Mom did something right! Carson did help with the cookie cutter so maybe all hope is not lost on the craftiness gene yet.
And now, some random pictures of the kids!

And here are some pictures that I got from Carson's preschool. LOVE THEM!!

And finally, what in the heck would cause a praying mantis to do this?

Answer: A bunch of 3 and 4 year old preschoolers poking and prodding the poor thing to death!

Oh and by the way, Caleb passed his hearing test. He had a cold and they think that's why he didn't pass. WHEW! I also took Caleb to the orthodontist today and he definitely needs braces. He has an interesting set of problems and we will find out more at his next appointment. I'm hoping it doesn't get too expensive! His ortho doesn't think it should be too big of a deal so I'm not going to stress unless I have to!

A Good Day! The blitchfest is over!

After all of my complaining lately, I thought that I should share some good news! Today was a GREAT day!

We won our court case against a slime ball who didn't pay for their landscape. We got the amount owed, attorney's fees plus interest, which will continue to accumulate until the whole amount is paid. Whoo-Hoo! The funniest part? It is a lawyer who owes it to us! And he didn't even bother to show up to court! Worked out in our favor. Now we get to go after his assets. Maybe he has a laptop that I can replace mine with, LOL!

I went to lunch with my niece Tia and her adorable daughter, Rylee. We went to a new place here called Pirate's Island or something like that. Its a really cool place. The local paper was there and they took pictures of "Cap'n Jack" serving us lunch. Well, I don't think he got me in any of the pictures but he definitely got Rylee and Tia. Glad I was sitting in the corner! Then the kids went to the arcade and played for a while.

I got home and on my door step were all 3 of my monthly scrapbooking auto ships and my new DVR. YAY! I really love my cute kits that I get every month and someday I fully intend to use them. And my DVR just gives me warm happy feelings.

Then, later on the doorbell rang and my candles that I ordered are here. More importantly, my auto air fresheners are here. I love good smellies.

Oh and we found our new toy hauler! We sold our RV a few months ago because it just wasn't what we needed. We found a toy hauler for more than half the price and tons more room. I can't wait to go out and use it. It is fabulous!

***I do have to take Caleb to the orthodontist because he has an under bite and his front top teeth are getting beaten up by the front bottom teeth. But we had anticipated this and so we will finally be using some of the money we saved up for braces for our kids. So not bad news necessarily, just news! Caleb is not happy about getting braces. But he will get over it when he can have multi-colored rubber bands on his braces. That's the part he keeps talking about.***

Super Bowl Sunday...pain and suffering and I'm not talking about the Cardinals!

This year, we decided to take a break from our annual Super Bowl party and just chill as a family. We totally slept in and missed church (oops! But kinda worth it.) and then did a bunch of stuff around the house and yard. I really didn't feel like doing anything but Allan guilted me into helping him. So we organized the garage, got our flower beds ready for spring planting, put all of the Christmas up and out of the way and then Allan took the boys and let me have a few minutes of silence. It was nice.

After they got home, I started to make snacks for the Super Bowl. I made Little Smokies, wrapped in bacon, covered them with brown sugar and then baked them until they browned. I think this is quite possibly the unhealthiest thing you could ever eat but since I had decided to have a free day from dieting, I figured I should make it worth my while! They ended up very tasty.

After I made those, I made up a batch of cookies that were pretty disgusting. I'm not sure what I did, but yuck! I had to have missed an ingredient somewhere which is quite possible since my kids would not leave me alone for a second when they got back home! At one point, they followed me to the bathroom and waited outside the door until I yelled at them to leave me alone for a minute! Seriously, it was annoying. And it ruined a batch of cookies.

Then, while I was making guacamole, I managed to cut in between my index finger and my middle finger with a serrated knife. Deeply cut would be more accurate. I hurried and grabbed a towel and wrapped my hand and then promptly laid on the kitchen floor because I was either going to pass out or puke. It hurt so, so, so much! Allan came over and tried to get me off the floor but every time I tried to sit up, I got completely dizzy. LAME! I finally crawled to the couch and let Allan take a look at my hand. He looked at it and announced that I was fine and to toughen up, I had given birth to two kids after all! (Yes, those were his words. Not kidding.) No sympathy for me! Since there was no way I was going to the ER on a Sunday, (I probably should have gotten stitches, I have realized in hindsight) I let Allan clean it and bandage it up. And now I have a 1/2 inch deep gash in between my fingers that I can't get wet or dirty. Which is great news for me because I was going to clean bathrooms but now I get to delegate instead. But really inconvenient because I can't do my hair because it hurts to have my hand above my head for too long. Oh well! This too shall pass. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a less painful day!
