HMMM...what have we done lately?

We had our first ever Pinewood Derby. I'm really glad that Allan wanted to be in charge of this project because I'm really clueless about this scouting stuff. Maybe that's why they fired me from my scouting job (I really don't blame them, I sucked at it!) Caleb went online and picked out a design and then Allan and Uncle Anton cut it out and did whatever it is that you do to make a car. Then Caleb picked out the paint and decals and I just let him go for it! We helped him with the basics but he really designed the whole thing. He ended up placing 2nd in most of his races but he placed 1st in one of the races. He got the award for the best design for his car.

Yay for me! I remembered Easter again! I have forgotten Easter several times throughout my time as a mom but I was on top of it this year.

LOVE IT!!

Introducing Cooper!

OK so I think we hit the puppy jackpot! He is quite possibly the mellowist animal on the face of the earth, which of course I find completely endearing. We take him outside to play, he will play with the kids for a few minutes and then he's done. He lays down on the ground and just stops. We have to coerce him to come back in the house. Or he just gives us that pitiful puppy face and we pick him up and bring him in. Then he just flops over and falls asleep. For, like, HOURS! Then he's up and the whole process starts over. It's pretty awesome. I was praying for the most inactive, non-puppy-like dog in the world and it seems like I got him! The boys love him, they constantly are playing with him. He especially like to chase after the ball when Caleb's practicing soccer. He has Allan wrapped around his paw. Guess who's getting up at night with Cooper? Not me! Allan has been getting up with him. It kind of rocks, I'm not gonna lie! He is a great addition to the family, he fits right in!

The most halirious thing I've ever witnessed! And yes, the little girl screams that you are hearing are coming from my son....

Its official. I'm the coolest mom ever!

Just ask Caleb, that's what he would say (at least for today, anyway.) We just bought a puppy. He's an American Bulldog and he's pretty adorable, don't you think?

Now here's how I got suckered into getting a dog in the first dang place:

Allan: We need a dog. Boys need a dog. Our family needs a new member and we are not having anymore kids.

Amy: Duh, I would cry for the entire 9 months if I got pregnant again. Anyway, the only kind of dog I want is a Bulldog and they are like $2500.00 and I will NOT pay that much money for a dog. Besides, we just watched Marley and Me. How can you still want a dog? I will never be able to have that happen to me!

Allan: If I find a Bulldog that is affordable would you let us get one?

Amy: Sure (because I've looked for a "clearance puppy" before and bulldogs are all 2500.00 online)

That was on Saturday. Allan has done his research...

Allan: Hey babe! We're getting a puppy!

Amy: No we're not! I don't want a dog!

Allan: But I found a bulldog and he's not 2500.00. Hurry, come look!

Amy: Whatever!! We are not getting a dog.

So I went and looked at the pictures and guess what?! We're getting a dog!

I'm a SUCKER!

We pick up the dog this weekend.

March. In like a lion, out like a lamb. I hope.

March, for some reason, is always a busy, crazy, pull-my-hair-out-by-the-roots kind of month. I'm not sure why, but off the top of my head, here are the reasons for this especially crazy March.

Soccer for Caleb is 3 times a week. That's not a complaint because he loves to play and I love to watch. And I love to cheer very loudly for him. And I love that it embarrasses him that I'm loud. This year, soccer is practice once a week and 2 games a week for 2 different leagues. But its the same team so that makes it easier.

Then we have Spring Break. This year we decided to pack up the new trailer and haul the family to California for a week. First, I must say that going in a trailer is the only way to travel! We absolutely loved it! Need a snack? Just run to the trailer, no need to stop at a convenience store. Need a bathroom break? Just pull over, no nasty rest stops for us! The sheets were clean because I washed them, the food was good because we cooked it, and the place was clean because I cleaned it! Now I know this doesn't sound like a vacation for me but at least I didn't have to drag my exhausted kids to a restaurant for dinner so for me it was a wash!

We woke up on Saturday morning, loaded the kids up and off we went. Our first stop was in Calico, an old mining town. We got there, found our campsite, hooked up and just vegged out the first night.

Chillin' in the trailer

On Sunday, we went up and toured the town of Calico. It took about 2 whole hours! So if you want to go there, make it a stop on your way to Southern California. It was pretty cool and we did get to pan for (fools) gold.

Tour of a mine. I would never be able to be a miner for a living! To claustrophobic for me!

The kids "smashed" pennies

We spent the night at the Calico campground again and then Monday morning we headed to Anaheim. After a hideous traffic jam and getting lost because our GPS system quit working, we made it to the FABULOUS Anaheim RV Park. This place was awesome!! Heated pool, playground, laundry room, game room, it had just about everything you would need. Plus, the kids could ride their scooters around and work off some of that excess energy every morning.
Tuesday morning we woke up and got ready for DISNEYLAND!! I'm pretty sure I love Disneyland more than the kids. We hit most of the rides that we wanted to ride on the first day. I love when this happens. We got the 3-day hopper pass so we had lots of Disney time.

The "jungle tour" ride. Carson loved it. He calls it the animal ride.
I bet you didn't realize how scary Pluto was. Carson was completely scared!

The water ball thing that my kids could have stood at all day long. We seriously took a 45 minute break and my kids hung out there the whole time. It was awesome!
Autotopia. Carson was a very serious driver and he wouldn't take his eyes off the road for a second.
Except when we were in an Autotopia traffic jam. A car broke down in front of us and we sat there for like 10 minutes.
Carson climbed all over Tarzan's tree house.

Kenzi got SOAKED on Splash Mountain. And she had just spent like an hour straightening her hair! I'm sooo glad I'm not a teenager!

Day 2 at Disneyland/California Adventure

Goofy was cool. He was so cute with the kids!
Wall E
Monsters Inc
Carson couldn't resist climbing in the O in the California letters by California Adventure
The Orbiter ride that Carson HAD to go on
Uh-Oh I think he's getting tired!

I mean really tired! He was sooo mad that we stopped for this family picture! He just wanted to stay in the stroller.
The beginning of the end of his excitement for rides that morning.

The only happy picture of Carson we have on day 2.

Chip and Dale. And dang Chip has Calebs face covered up! And Chip and Dale are Calebs favorite!

And he's out! He slept for like 3 hours!

The kids at Mickey Mouses house

Carson with his 3D glasses on waiting for "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience". He loved it!!

Splash Mountain was the best!!

Outside of Splash Mountain
Carson finally got to meet Mickey Mouse!!

And he was sooo excited!!
